Declared a Special Protectorate for Birds
Declared a Special Protectorate for Birds (ZEPA) in the Valencian Community and a Place of Community Interest (LIC) for its Penyassegats de la Marina, it includes the majority of the virgin areas of the eastern coast. Of immense ecologic and geographic importance, the muted limestone dotted with low scrubs, so characteristic of the area, contrast with the exuberant blue of the sea, where divers have long enjoyed its underwater treasures.
The flora of Granadella Park include wonders such as an orchid micro-reserve and amazing specimens such as the Asplenium Marino fern, unique in the region. Among the fauna, the area is famed for its seabirds and birds of prey, as well as small mammals including warthogs and foxes.
interesting historical and cultural vestiges
In addition to its undeniable environmental value, the Granadella Natural Park also encompasses interesting historical and cultural vestiges like the traditional cave dwellings, lime kilns, “teuleries”, the Arabic tile factories, the ocher mines, and the fisheries, the remains of a traditional and unique method of fishing that was practiced from the cliffs.
Due to the privileged location of the park just next to our Cumbre del Sol residences, owners of the villas and apartments in our residential resort can easily enjoy some of the many attractive activities that the area offers, including hiking, snorkelling, and bicycle riding.
